Austin - Live Music

FFirst-time visitors might be surprised to find themselves being entertained with live music as they walk through the terminal at Austin's airport. But they shouldn't be. Live music, and music in many other forms, is everywhere in Austin. Musicians play in everything from grocery stores (Central Market, Whole Foods) to city council meetings. They play outdoors at the Blues on the Green series and at festivals: Austin City Limits and South by Southwest you've likely heard of, but there's also Urban Music Festival, Old Settler's Music Fest, the Pecan Street Festival and many more worth checking out. Mostly you'll find Austin musicians at clubs, coffeehouses, bars, taquerias, auditoriums and concert halls with more than 250 live music venues, it can be intimidating knowing where to start. A trip to Austin just isn't complete without a little live music. And that's why people always leave humming a tune and singing our praises.

Find music any night of the week in any of our neighborhoods. In bustling downtown, amble in and out of booming nightclubs or intimate venues, all within walking distance. Listen to live blues at Antone’s, jazz in the underground Elephant Room or local headliners in the outdoor cedar street courtyard.

Head over to the ever-quirky south congress to hear everything from rock to traditional country at the continental club, or jazz, soul, and R&B in the continental gallery.
